Sparks

Author: Lariat

He yawned loudly, rubbing the back of his neck and looking around at his surroundings. "Man, I'm bored. There's nothing to do and nothing interesting to see."

"Well... what am I here for?" Naebi asked.

He bent down to her eye-level and grinned. "To serve as my entertainment, of course!"

"I... don't get it."

He waved his forefinger around, pacing in a small circle. "Y'see, I'm so awesome, that I get too bored too easily of the non-awesome things around me. You," he pointed at her, "are here to make things awesome by selecting anything that you believe will bring me amusement!"

She sweatdropped. 'In other words, you're just using me...' "Fine." She sighed. She looked around for anything of her his interest (probably). "Let's go... there." He looked over to where she was pointing over to.

"...An Ice Cream Shop?"

She walked a bit forward, turning back to him with playful smile across her face. "You said I get to choose whatever I want for you, right? So I choose to go over there." Looking at his disgruntled face, she laughed, taking his hand and dragging him towards the store. "C'mon!"

Melt

"Ugh, why do you like this stuff so much? It's so sticky and melts really fast." Cain complained.

"Well, it's not my fault that you're body heat naturally melts ice the moment you get near it!" She took another lick of her ice-cream cone and said, "And besides, whatever I decide is technically what you decide, right? So you'll just have to deal with it for now."

He gave her a side-glance (without her really paying much attention, too busy enjoying her ice cream), staying silent for a moment. Then, he smirked and said, "Using my words against me. Of course." as he tossed his melted ice cream cone to the side. Naebi just smiled at the compliment given to her by Cain standards. "That's why I..."

"Hm?"

"...Nothing. Next!"

I feel like I'm about to melt

"Hm? What the..." The silver-haired boy looked down below on the street under the bridge, taking sight of the elder prince of Hiwa and a short, red-haired girl together. 'Hmm... have I seen her before...' Then he remembered. 'Oh! That's right! That girl that I saw Ryuu with that one time!'

"What are you doing, you idiot?" His brown-haired friend came by and asked. "If you're going to decide on taking a break, at least say something along the way so I don't end up leaving you behind more than twelve feet away."

He ignored his friend, grabbing his arm and pointing down to the couple below. "Ain't that a rare sight, Ryuu!? That girlfriend of yours is cheating on you with a Hiwa prince! Man, we should take a picture or something for blackmail!"

Ryuu scowled at him. "She's not my girlfriend." He looked down to see if Nyo was telling the truth about the couple. He was right. What made it more mind numbing for him was that Cain was patiently waiting for Bean to finish petting a passing by dog. At this sight, Ryuu looked annoyed. Annoyed that someone decided to divide by 0 and made the cosmic forces of the universe hook Cain and Bean up on a date. He was not amused. 'Maybe this is Cain's fault too...' Ryuu thought.

Nyo snickered, taking this annoyed look as, "What's the matter? Jealous?"

Ryuu immediately turned the other way, not hesitating on his answer, "No." His friend didn't remain convinced, following him when he started walking away.

"You're totally jealous."

"Am not. Besides, I'm not Chibimo."

I can never tell you that I like you or anything like that... but...

"Wooooww~!! A horse!" Naebi ran up to the white horse that was being taken out of the stables.

"Would you like to to ride it, miss?" The vendor asked. "Since you're the first customer for today, a ride is free of charge."

"Really?!" He nodded. She, in her excitement, tried to lift herself on the horse's back... to no avail.

Cain pointed and laughed at her, "Haha, you're too short!"

"Argh, shut up!" She shouted. "How about you lift me up on it, huh!?"

"No." He denied flatly.

She ran up to him, looked up to him, trying her best with her googly-eyes, begging him, "Pleeeeaaaassee~~~"

Cain remained straight-faced, forming an 'X' shape with his arms. "No."

Naebi started tearing up and ran away. "Cain, you idioooooott!!!"

"Hey, where're ya going!?" he shouted as he ran after her.

Melt

He managed to grab the back of the collar of her shirt, pulling her back with a harsh force, thus she narrowly avoided getting run over by a passing carriage. From a bystander's view, it seemed as though the pair were embracing.

Of course, as a girl, she would realize this immediately. Naebi turned a shade of red and could only squeak out an "Eh?"

"What am I going to do with you..." He muttered.

She looked up to him, her eyes wide from what she thought was a sudden embrace. "W-Why did you do that?"

"You mean saving you from getting run over?" He said sarcastically. "Because if you died, then I would get bored!"

Her face wasn't red from embarrassment anymore. It was more like red with anger. "Cain, you idiot!!!" And a large slapping noise could be heard.

I can't let our eyes meet

Cain groaned in pain as he rubbed his face where a red hand mark had been implanted. 'Damn, still hurts...' He looked over to Naebi who was walking a bit ahead of him, her back turned to him. 'What the hell is she so mad about?'

She stopped, pausing before turning around, scowling at him. "Cain," she started. "Why are you putting up with me so much?"

His only answer was a "...Huh?"

"I mean... After all of that, it's still surprising that you're still tagging along with me."

"What are you talking about? You're the one tagging along with me, I'm just letting you lead."

"Well, still." She turned to the sunset with a solemn look in her eyes. "It's still pretty out of character for you. Tolerating everything I've done so far today... Even in the past..." A pause. Then she looked up to him. "Can you tell me the reason why you put up with me so much, Cain?"

He stayed silent for a while, giving a heavy sigh and rubbing the back of his neck, thinking of how he should respond.

It's not that I'm in love with being in love or anything like that

"Hey, Naecchi."

"What?"

"I... haven't been comepletely honest with you."

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"I mean..." He bent down to her face and put his hands on her shoulders. "To be honest... I..." He slowly leaned closer and closer to her face.

'E-Eh!? W-Wait, w-what's he doing, what is he-!?' Her face became red. 'I-Is he.... Is he-!?' Then suddenly, before their lips could make any contact,

"Just kidding ☆!"

She stood there dumbfounded. "Wha-"

He could only laugh at the look on her face and ran past her, still laughing.

She came back to her senses, now red from anger, and gave chase. "Hey! Wait a minute! You never answered my question!"

It's because I truly, honestly... like you
