"Come on, we all know it's got to be me. Neither of you could possibly pilot my complex invention." The boy gave the twins his best face of exasperation, indicating the end of this discussion.

A silence. "Maybe this time it'll fly all the way," the younger twin blurted hopefully.

He knew it wouldn't. 60 seconds, if he was lucky. Just enough of a distraction to allow the other two to make a break for it.

Manari flashed the boy a grin. "Yeah, it just might!"

The boy smiled in relief, but his twin did not. She opened her mouth to speak, but Manari shot her a pleading look. He grabbed the girl's hands.

"Take Kaizu. Go." Please, before I can change my mind. He paused, and then gave her a quick peck on the cheek. "You take care of your brother, kay?"

She looked away, swallowed hard, then a nod and a small smile. "Our brother. I'll take care of our brother."
