Dark

Author: Seth

"Sometimes it's nice to have something that'll never change, no matter what happens."

It covered his movements as he slipped from roof to roof, not that it ever mattered because the crusty old coot never seemed to sleep, and always seemed to be parked firmly on that balcony whenever he got anywhere near.

It blinded him to enemy movements until it was too late, and his left side suddenly felt a lot heavier than his right. He swore that he'd stop listening to music on the job after that. Not that he really kept to that promise.

It soothed his eyes after his shift finished, letting him slip into an unconscious realm of peace. Well, kind of. It would if he could just get his memory to stop working overtime. Or at least get it to focus on more… pleasant subjects.

It also meant that he missed that banana peel sitting near the foot of his bed. He made a point of never letting Shadow bring food into his room ever agian.

It was a companion who'd always be there for him, whether he wanted it to be or not. He wouldn't really have it any other way.
